A vital aspect of contingency planning is ensuring that all your people know what to do when a crises occurs. Our approach brings training to life – through a combination of classroom teaching and simulation exercises, all supported with paper and electronic documentation.

IMO 1, 2 and 3 Training and « Train the Trainers »

OTRA is accredited for running IMO 1, 2 & 3 trainings (Accreditation by the French authorities – Secretariat d’Etat a la Mer). We can also create courses aimed at training your trainers, enabling them to roll out the training across your organisation.

  • IMO 1: Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles and Madagascar (2011), Total E&P Angola (2011, 2012), Yemen LNG (2007, 2013), Total E&P Congo (2008), Midia Terminal (Romania, 2008);
  • IMO 2: South Africa (2006), Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles and Madagascar (2011);
  • IMO 3: Libya (2006), Albania (2006), Montenegro (2006), Mauritius (2010, with representatives of Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Seychelles and Madagascar).

Aerial Surveillance

OTRA has developed a specialist training course and training materials for personnel in charge of carrying out aerial surveillance missions.  The courses include recognizing oil at sea, quantifying oil according to the morphology of the slicks, documenting the aerial survey by use of a digital camera and a GPS and reporting.

Custom Training

OTRA can run training courses tailored to suit your needs.  These specific training courses can include:

  • Dispersant usage;
  • Oil spill waste management;
  • Crisis and media management;
  • Claims handling and compensation​.

All courses can be run in English, French and Portuguese.
