Sensitivity mapping

OTRA can develop coastal sensitivity maps.  Our services include:

  • Aerial and ground surveys, for acquisition of the necessary data;
  • GIS development, using Internationally recognized methodology (ESI standard);
  • Identification of most sensitive sites, requiring priority for protection;
  • The development of Strategic maps, Tactical maps and site protection plans.

  • Mauritius (digitalization of paper atlas, 2004), Northern Angola (2004), Pas-de-Calais (France, 2007), Nord (France, 2007), Libya-Tunisia border to Misrata (Libya, 2008), Midia Terminal (Romania, 2008), Djibouti (2009), Uruguay (2015), Bulgaria (2015), Republic of Congo (2015).
  • Workshop with National authorities to develop national coastal sensitivity maps: Angola (2007), Ghana (2007), Nigeria (2008), Benin (2009), Ivory Coast (2009, 2011), Egypt & Sudan & Djibouti & Saudi Arabia & Jordana (2009), Cap-Verde (2010), Democratic Republic of Congo (2010), Namibia (2010), Turkey (2010), Senegal (2011), Namibia (2012);
  • Technical support for the development/update of the coastal sensitivity maps of Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles and Madagascar (2010-2013).
  • Development of a « General specification for the development of environmental and societal Geographic Information System » for Total Exploration and Production (2010).
